Ling and Wilson first met in 1987 as classmates studying architecture at South China University of Technology in Guangzhou, China — one of the country’s most respected architecture schools. Although they shared the same classrooms and dreams as young students, life would soon take them on very different journeys.
In 1990, Ling moved to the United States to continue her studies and pursue her passion for architecture. She became a licensed architect in New York in 1998 and spent years working with renowned architect Philip Johnson and several distinguished firms before founding her own professional practice company in 1998.
Meanwhile, Wilson built a successful career as a general contractor in China from 1991 to 2011. After retiring, he immigrated to the United States in 2012 and settled in Los Angeles, California.
For more than 30 years, they lost touch completely.
Then, unexpectedly, life brought their families together again. In the summer of 2022, Wilson’s son moved to Boston for work and met Ling’s daughter. What began as a simple family dinner became the first reunion between Ling and Wilson after decades apart.
In 2023, they began working together on a Texas development project. Although the project itself did not move forward, their friendship did. Through long conversations, shared experiences, and mutual support, they gradually discovered how much they understood and appreciated one another.
By 2025, after both had gone through difficult chapters in life and finalized their divorces, they decided to give love a second chance. What they found was not only companionship, but a true partnership.
Wilson’s practical skills and calm strength perfectly complement Ling’s creativity and vision — a true “hands and mind” team. They both love traveling, food, architecture, outdoor adventures, and embracing life with energy and optimism. Having each spent many years working hard and caring for others, they are now choosing to build a life where they can also care for each other.
This new chapter is about love, friendship, understanding, and finding happiness together after life’s many twists and turns.
And now, they are excited to continue this journey hand in hand.
